I’m a firm believer in stylish gym wear. If you love wearing nice clothes everyday – for work, school, etc, why shouldn’t you do the same for the gym? No matter what shape or size you are, cute gym wear is far more flattering than throwing together some odd items of clothing for a workout – FACT.
I have this friend who totally amazed me with her transformation the first day I met her. Picture this – a lady in her 30s who was obviously a regular at the gym (she hardly gave up during the class), glasses , wearing an oversize men’s t-shirt and gym shorts. An hour later, some fashionably dressed lady said bye to me on her way out of the gym. I didn’t recognise her initially, then I did a double-take – it was the same person from my class! Glasses – gone, loose and unflattering gym kit – gone! I couldn’t believe the transformation! We’re still working on her changing her entire gym wardrobe because such a figure should never be hidden under her regular workout attire.
Her story inspired me to share some stylish tops out there.
Cheap and Cheerful
These are definitely value for the (little) money spent.
Target (USA): www.target.com
I make sure I stop by here at least once anytime I’m in the States. Target carry the Champion® range and always seem to have one Sale event or another going on. The original price of most of these is already very affordable but half the price is very nice!
e.g. Champion® Tank: $9.99
Champion ® Cardio Tank: $14.99
Sports Direct (UK): www.sportsdirect.com
This is currently my favourite shop! I buy 80% of my gym wear from here; all the popular brands (Nike, Puma, Adidas, etc) are on sale at discounted prices.
Why? Because they’re from a previous season but they’re still brand new so – perfect! Anytime I walk into one of the major sport brands shops and sight something I really like, I just bide my time and visit Sports Direct every month until – YES – I find it and it’s at least 30% cheaper
e.g. Puma tank: £11.00 (Original Price: £12.99)
Adidas Logo Tee: £9 (Original Price: £11.99)
- A little more expensive but very pretty!
e.g. Tennis Shirt: £30
Reebok www.reebok.com
e.g. Easy Tone Short Sleeve Top: £42
Others brands include:
Puma www.puma.com
Adidas www.adidas.com
Champion http://www.championusa.com/
- Might be quite expensive but just gorgeous!
Sweaty Betty http://www.sweatybetty.com/
First time I walked into this shop, I wanted to win the lottery and buy every single thing in every available colour. I’ll go as far as saying Sweaty Betty is another inspiration for me to get rich, haha! For now, I’ll patiently wait for the amazing sales.
e.g ‘Keep Fit’ Tee: £24 (50% of £48)
‘Flex’ Vest: £22 (Original Price: £45)
If you’re not body confident yet, these tops definitely look cuter in a size too big compared to a shapeless men’s tee so you have no excuse.
And… It’s been proved that women feel better about themselves in the gym when they’re wearing well fitting workout wear!
